Lara is a Rio Grande style hand weaver, musician/singer-songwriter, visual artist, and designer. At eight years old, Lara became an apprentice weaver at Tierra Wools, and worked as an employed weaver throughout her school age years. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Design at California College of the Arts, and is now one of the instructors in the Tierra Wools Rio Grande Weaving School. Lara enjoys experimenting with bold colors, movement, and rhythm in her weavings. One of her favorite recent design challenges was incorporating the Star Trek insignia and transporter into a weaving.
