In our 5-day Beginning Weaving Class, students learn everything they need to know in order to design and weave simple, but beautiful weavings with a plain colored warp on a treadle loom. The course includes instruction in loom setup (winding a warp and tying it on), planning and designing the colors and yarns of your weaving, weaving techniques on a Rio Grande Style floor loom, and mending and finishing your piece.
In addition to instructor-led, hands-on learning, each student will also receive a classroom workbook with historical background, weaving terminology, and practical instructions to be used as a guide during the class and beyond.
All weaving equipment and instruction are included in the class price. Warp threads will be supplied on the looms. However, weft materials – the colored yarns you will be using to create your design – will need to be purchased on-site, with two different weights to choose from: rug (heavier weight) or blanket (lighter weight).
