Lubbock, TX born Laurie McIntyre’s intense love for sheep began with “Mary had a Little Lamb” followed by a large flock on the Curry family farm in Plainview, TX where ovine sounds and scents became fascinatingly real. Many years after Rumpelstiltskin , a George MacDonald fairy tale, “Curdy and The Princess”, ignited her desire to find a used spinning wheel and learn to spin wool.
Untethered expression with color and texture took over as she more fully realized, “I was born to create!” Being a pioneer of The Little Red Barn clan, ‘The Barnies’ at Jacob’s Reward Farm (in the N Dallas area) and a weekly spinner with fiber friends, Laurie soon discovered the ease of stockpiling yarn and all kinds of natural fiber and fleeces. Today this joy-filled fiber artist partakes of her Daily Bread as she pours out and loves to fashion items of delight, comfort, warmth and abundant colorful creations from these generous, precious animals we all adore. We hope you enjoy the fiber art of Laurie Ann’s Busy Hands !
