I was born in Sante Fe, NM, moved to Albuquerque to attend UNM and worked there for the next 38 years. 15 years ago my husband David and I fell in love with the Heron – El Vado area and vowed that when we retired we’d live here.
Once a resident of Los Ojos I learned of Tierra Wools. As a quilter I love fabric and fiber arts. I took my first class, “Beginning Weaving” with Sophia DeYapp (master weaver, teacher, and member-owner of Tierra Wools). I was so taken by the process that in the next 7 months I made 18 pieces, blankets and rugs. I was ready to move on to the “Beginning Tapestry” class with Sophia as my teacher once again.
Tierra Wools has filled my life with new vigor. I will always quilt, and now I can call myself a weaver as well. I hope, with practice, to “weave like a master” before I leave this Earth. The Lord has truly blessed me with an opportunity to observe and learn from the Masters at this historic place. I will forever be thankful.
